i'm an easy sell, i'm not going to lie. if a shiny happy salesgirl comes up to me and has a new great product to offer.... odds are i'm going to buy it. this is why sephora is a very very VERY dangerous place for me. it's also dangerous because MY sephora has a delightful salesGUY that looks like russell brand. russell brand can get me to buy anythng. russell brand could get me to do anything.... and, i mean anything (err.. the REAL russell brand could, watch out katy perry. i'm prettier than you anyways). sorry husband. i would marry russell brand. but anyways... this story isn't about russell brand OR sephora... so, moving on.
aveda. i love it. i love love love love love it. the way it smells... the lovely things it does for my hair... the way the bottles look (did i also mention that i'm a sucker for great packaging as well?)...
i went into my aveda today with the intentions of buying ONLY shampoo and conditioner. that's it. nothing else. no lipgloss... no eyeshadow... just haircare. however, while on my way to the "shampure" section... i happened to wander on past the skincare section.
of course, the sales lady was on me like white on rice... and before i knew it, she had me thrown into a complete sales pitch. asking about my skincare concerns... taking me through the entire line of products... testing them out on my hand... becoming my new bff....

and then i bought the entire line.
we can add aveda to the list of stores that rape my wallet. so $97,000 later i got my shampoo... and a whole lot of other delights. oh... and i paid $10 for the "aveda club thing" (no, that's not what it's actually called).. but, all my dollars spent add up and turn into points that get me free treats! i like free treats.
and.... apparently i like pretty aveda sales girls with a good pitch almost as much as like my russell brand at sephora.

I once bought a whole bunch of stuff from aveda that I couldn't afford because, really, those salespeople are GOOD. Then the hubs got mad and made me return it, which was actually really good because I had spent $180 dollars. Now the only time I get aveda is when it comes in the little, tiny bottles given out at a hotel we are staying at. It really is a very sad story.
ReplyDelete@ yankee girl: that's why husbands aren't allowed to know what goes on at aveda! you have to sneak all the products into the bathroom and put them away before husbands even get home... it works like a charm..... :)
ReplyDeleteHello! I stumbled upon your blog today, and I have to say that I hear ya 100%. When I'm out shopping it is very important for me to steer clear of the Bobbi Brown and MAC counters. Once those sales girls draw me in, I never leave there without spending an arm and a leg! And I agree, hiding the items from the husband is the route I usually have to take too haha...I hide everything in the trunk of my car until it is safe to smuggle it in! Love your blog!
