home again.

"I’ve never cared for sightseeing, landmarks bore me, but thrust me into the day-to-day happenings of friends, acquaintances, and friends of friends and places really come alive."

actually, i've been home since monday morning- my lazy ass just hasn't gotten around to blogging. new york was amazing.... naturally. shouldn't that just be a given? hubs and i spent loads of quality time together and also got in a few fun nights out with some great friends. i love my new york friends.

my plane got in thursday evening and i had reserved a car to pick me up from the airport to take me to D's dorm- yes, you heard that correctly... dorm. the car turned out to be a blessing. i waited for about 5minutes before it came, and then proceeded to sit in air conditioned comfort for the long trip in too manhattan. i say long... because i (lord knows why) booked a flight that landed right during the beast of rush hour.

i forgot to snap a picture of D's dorm... but saying 'dorm' is really giving it
too much credit. i think our pantry is bigger. it's literally the length of an XL twin bed and the width of the bed, a desk, and a closet/cupboard. let's just say thursday night was a little squishy... and i woke up with bruises on my knees... and not for good reason.

friday, D had to work, so i spent the day with some of my favorite people in new york. we marched along the high line park, had an amazing lunch in the meat packing district, and hung out at a random little park in the east village. hung in the park that is... until a bum fight broke out. we fled before knives were drawn, and retreated back to their apartment and enjoyed the AC until D got off work and was able to meet us. we went to dinner and grabbed a few drinks in soho with some more friends... and retreated back to our HOTEL ROOM to get 'a good nights sleep'. i have never been so happy to see a king sized bed in my life. one night, crammed into a twin, will do that to a girl.

(friends @ high line!)

saturday we woke up bright and early... i mean, at noon... and grabbed a quick brunch. are you allowed to still call it brunch at noon? we then spent a better part of the day wandering around chelsea and D took me to all his new neighborhood favorites. i fell completely in love with chelsea. i could DEFINITELY see us living there if we end up moving.

saturday night we met back up with the friends i spent friday with. all i can say about saturday night is... holy shit show. the four of us downed an embarrassing amount of wine, molested the merrill lynch bull, and ended our evening with a 2am bar food feast. you know, because our amazing italian dinner, where we sat outside and overlooked the statue of liberty just wasn't enough.

(poor bull)

sunday was my last day... and it started with a massive hangover. although, i did stumble across one hell of a glorious cure. sunday afternoon nap in central park. hubs and i snuggled up in a patch of shade under a tree and i'm pretty sure we actually fell asleep for a few hours. but really, how can you feel like hell when you're overlooking this?
(god i love central park)

after an early dinner and a tearful goodbye... yes, i am a girl and i do sometimes cry... i was off and back to wisconsin. the only downside to my trip was that it really left me missing D. it was like a little tease... here's husband... now he's gone. muahahaha! oh well... at least i have less than a month to go before i'm back!

  3. Very glamorous!! I love a "reserved car." There's no better way to jam out of the airport in style.
