oye.... okay, so i haven't blogged in about 17 years. i am getting TERRIBLE at keeping up with this thing. see, i used to blog when i had nothing to do/didn't want to do anything at work. then... i was unemployed... and i had everything in the world that i wanted to do, aside from sitting at my computer. NOW, i am re-employed.... and the company i am working for has a VERY strict internet usage policy. we are limited to 30min of personal usage, and then it somehow automatically blocks all none company related websites. what kind of craptacular garbage is that?? how do they expect me to get any sort of work accomplished when i can't be checking facebook every 3 seconds, writing blogs, reading blogs, and gchatting?? they're lucky i have internet on my phone... so i can at least keep up with the facebook and emails... but, not the blog. sad times my friends, sad times. i guess, for the sake of my sad little blog, we need to hope that i get back into excessive internetting in my spare time. although, i will continue to remain bitter that none of that spare time will involve company time. did i say "meh" yet?

ANYWAYS- i should probably stop whining, because i did have an awesomely relaxing and fun long weekend up at the in-law's cabin. how did i get so lucky to marry into a family with a cabin? and... a REALLY REALLY nice and new a sparkling clean cabin, at that. i mean, this "cabin" is nicer than my house... and possibly any house i've ever lived in... haha.

we got up there semi-late on friday night (hub's has class until 5... every friday... what kind of CRAP is that!?) and had a VERY yummy dinner. saturday was extremely relaxing and i, believe it or not, got in a kayak. this may come as a shock for those that know me, as i prefer to not exert myself physically OR participate in outdoor activities... but, i will be the first too admit that i love that kayak. so fun and much easier to paddle than a canoe. especially if you do a few big strong paddles and then just coast down the river........................ :) saturday night we all camped around a backyard bonfire with wine in sippycups (reason # 4897344 that i love my inlaws) and i, at least, got semi-embaressingly drunk. i hope i didn't say anything too dumb. odds are not in my favor with that one.

on sunday we went to the apple orchard! call me lame, but this is something i have been wanting to do F.O.R.E.V.E.R. so i was THRILLED when i was informed there was an orchard near the cabin. we picked apples and blueberries and i was happy as a clam. monday we headed home fairly early... with the intent of beating traffic... and, that failed miserably. i am so thankful we only had to make it as far as madison, and not all the way back to illinois. when traffic started to kill us, we were able to find an alternate route and bail and fly home.

sunday night, my best friend and her boyfriend invited us over for dinner and game time. we played "in a pickle". has anyone else ever played that? i hadn't... and it was pretty damn hilarious. the game consists (in a nutshell) of cards with words on them... and you need to arrange the cards so that the item listed on each card fits into the item before it. exampe: "eyelash" --> "egg" --> "paris" --> "universe". i know that doesn't really sound hilarious/amusing... but add two bottles of wine and you have a great night.

aaaaaand... that brings us back today. when i started my new job... found out about the internet usage policy... and felt sad about my life. har har :) i'm hoping this lovely bottle of pinot (noir-NOT grigio) will soften the blow. let me tell you, sleeping in for the past month makes 8am pretty brutal. woe is me, right? :)

  1. The whole internet blockage at work things is the bane of my existence. I've found my ways around it, and for WHATEVER reason, Facebook isn't on their list (yet). So I can feel your pain. =)

  2. Can you please tell your employer that you need gmail chatting privileges to keep in contact with your attorney because I miss talking to you during the day.

And I want to go to the cabin!! We should trade some weekend, I'll go hang out at the cabin and you can go to the boat. Bummed you won't be here Sunday, but totally understand. Did I show you the kickass dress I bought for the baptism? I'm going to be the hottest godmother ever.

  4. Going to the apple orchard is not lame! Well, maybe it is, but then that makes me lame too because apple picking is my favorite thing to do in the fall. My second favorite thing to do is sit around a campfire. Sounds like you had a perfect weekend.

I'm supposed to have limited access to the internet as well. But I always just do what I want. I should probably start scaling back a little...but since my home computer is broken this is my only way to connect with everyone!
