ow!

okay, it's officially summer.

over this past holiday weekend, i have successfully gotten both my first (and second) sunburn of the season. it hurts so bad that all i want to do is rip off my tshirt... too bad that's not acceptable behavior in the work place :)

ANYWAYS- the fourth of july is probably my FAVORITE holiday, and as usual it was awesome. i always go back to my parents town, which is where i grew up, for the cheesy little local parade and barbeque. my husband hates it, but i can't get enough. essentially, the whole town flocks to the main street, watches the parade, and then joins in at the end to march to a little park right on lake michigan. the whole town essentially becomes a ghost town on the fourth. we always joke that it would be the perfect time to go looting. nobody would notice. there's great food and fun music... games for the kids... and an AMAZING fireworks display at the end of the night (and i'm not just saying that- it's seriously one of the best fireworks displays i've ever seen). the only downside? running into all those people from high school that you could easily forego seeing for the rest of your life. but- all in all, a small price to pay for a perfect day at the lakefront.

sunday was spent with some friends at my grandparents pool- which i affectionatly refer to as my "private country club". they also live right on lake michigan and i grew up summering at my grandparents and being spoiled to death w/ their gorgeous backyard and pool. as a result, the little snot in me still refuses to even stick a toe into any public pool, regardless of how nice it is.... hehe :)
