brrrr

in case you haven't heard, it's snowing. and when i say it's snowing... i mean it's fucking snowing. madison has declared a "snow emergency". i hope that means i don't have to work tomorrow. the windows on my apartment are on a slant... kind of like skylights... b/c we live on the top floor. apparently, this also means that with the onset of snow, we can no longer see out them. the snow has piled up... we're snowed in. it's more or less like living in an igloo... which is cool for now. i'm sure the thrill wear off by the end of the week.

anyways, since i can't see out my windows, i decided to venture out on my terrance. big mistake. big. HUGE! they weren't kidding when they called blizzard. IF i have to go into work tomorrow, i'll be about 3 hours late just because i have to dig my car out before i can get there. i also just sent a frantic email to my building manager, begging for a spot in my buildings heated garage. i hadn't done so sooner, b/c it's about $150+ for a spot in there, and i thought i was brave enough to battle the $75/mo. outside lot. i'm not. what the hell was i thinking?

upon setting foot outside, this is what i came across:

see those little dark blobs towards the pictures upper right? (no? that's okay, i really can't either) ONE of those is my car. the other, is my husbands. hopefully.. if i DO have to go into work, i will be able to get one of those guys to plow through the madness.

also, where did my feet go?? (yes, i'm wearing a puffy coat and 'jama pants shoved into my uggs... so what.)

one would think that after 26 years of this crap, the novelty would have worn off on me... but, alas... it's kept it's hold.

so... please pray i don't have to go into work tomorrow. pretty pretty PRETTY PLEASE!!

  1. Ok that sounds (and looks) all kinds of insane. You should definitely not go to work tomorrow. Even if they say you have to, take a sick day (thats what they're for!). It basically doesn't snow in Australia (except in the Mountains) and I've always thought it would be cool if it did. Not anymore.

  3. I woke up fully expecting to see a Winter Wonderland outside my window, but all I saw was mud and snowy rain. Apparently you kids up north of me got a lot of snow, and south of me got a lot of rain, and we're getting that lovely "wintry mix." I'm not terribly disappointed that I'm sick and feel like crap because at least I'm working from home today.
