this, mr. cuisinart mini food processor, is my new absolute very best friend in the whole entire world. how is it that i've made it through 25 years of life without owning a food processor??? i got it out for the first time today, and i've already used it twice. first, to make a sinfully delcious olive tampenade (OMG EASY) for v's party tonight... and then i made some fresh salsa, which is probably one of my favorite things, come summertime. this little guy is so fun... i just couldn't bring myself to put him away after the tampenade was made. it's love.

anyways- on to the tampenade.
as a general rule i dispise and don't use recipes. i glance them over for a general idea of the ingredients i'll need and then won't give them another thought. this is probably why i'm a TERRIBLE baker. but, here is the recipe for this absolutly delicious vegan olive tampenade- and no, i'm not vegan... i'm just disgusted by the thought of anything involving anchovies, and most "regular" olive tampenade recipes call for them. ANYWAYS- this is what you'll need...
1/2 cup green olives
1/2 cup black olives (i used kalamata... my fav)
2 cloves garlic
1 tbs. capers
a drizzle of olive oil
black pepper to taste
throw it all in a food processor, pulse it around a bit... and, you have the most delicious little appetizer on the planet! i'm planning to serve it with pita bread... and i'm actually pretty bummed i have to share my little concoction with all my fellow partygoers.

thanks for making it and bringing it over tonight! you won't have to share with me because i'm not a big fan of olives, but i'll definitely try it out in between the apparent mass quantities of cupcakes :) and i have the same mini-chopper and used it three times already in party prepping. will use it at least once more before go-time. hooray!
ReplyDeletemmmMMmmm... mass quantities of cupcakes!
ReplyDeleteI am completely in love w/this olive tampenade and will most definitely be making it this week. For dinner? Why not!
ReplyDeleteI have a baby Cuisinart and a gargantuan Cuisinart and I don't even know what I would do without them.
