yesterday was one of the longest and most ridiculously annoying days i've had in a LONG time. it was one of those murphy's law "everything that can go wrong will" kind of days. work was a joke- the phone was ringing off the hook so i wasn't able to get anything done- and, when the phone wasn't ringing, i was busy doing other people's work because, for some reason, i always end up working for companies that like to hire..... positivly inept people.
upon leaving work my car was rear-ended by some floozy teenager, who i watched in my rear-view mirror while she was too busy texting and i could see she wasn't going to stop in time (lucky for her, it was more of a "bump" than a "crash" and there wasn't even a scratch on my car). then all the stoplights were out on my route. of course, since i live in good old illinois, nobody can drive to save their lifves (on a normal day), and it took me three times as long as it normally does to get home. i was almost hit again, by a hummer, that apparently didn't know how to work a 4-way stop... and, since it was a hummer (I F'ING HATE HUMMERS) my rage skyrocketed.
don't worry- the fun didn't stop there.
when i finally managed to get home (in one peice!), i came to find that our power was out. normally, this wouldn't be the end of the world... but, it's been averaging about 90some degrees lately... and i was picturing myself sweating to death alongside my poor cats, who had been trapped in the closed up condo with no AC for who knows how long...
luckily... the power came back on about an hour later and i drowned my sorrows with a particularly good bottle of pinot noir while taking an excessivly long bubblebath and reading a delightfully wonderful book.
and- so far today has been leaps and bounds better!
for starters, i just got a call that we have another showing on our condo this evening (yay!)! the people are coming through sometime between 5 and 6 tonight.... that's what i like, plenty of advanced warning! since i, of course, left my place in a moderatly disasterous state before leave for work this morning... i can take a long lunch, go home and clean, and just work late... since, i can't be at home between 5 and 6 anyways!
let's hope my day continues down that path.
