last week (monday? i think- on my "old" blog) i vowed to not buy another book until i'd read all the books that i already own that are sitting on my bookshelf unread.the follwing day, i bought a new book.
today, i bought SEVEN (yes, seven. i know that's a bit excessive) new books. i was only planning on buying ONE book... but, Barnes & Noble always makes "suggestions" based on what's in your cart and your past ordering history. of course, all of their "suggestions" are books that i NEED. okay okay, so i don't NEED them... but, i WANT them. this is how SEVEN new books ended up in my cart.
for anyone who might be curios, those seven books include:
love in the time of cholera, middlesex, lucky, the diving bell & the butterfly, the glass castle, snow flower & the secret fan, and memoirs of a geisha.
the funniest part, is that the current book i'm reading (i know this much is true, by wally lamb) is 897ish pages, and i'm only on page 78. it's going to be a LONG TIME before i'm ready to move on to my next read.
so... why the need for seven new books? lord only knows.
actualy, i take that back. i'm going to blame V, for mentioning her five new books and planting the book buying seed in my head.

I just did the same thing while at Borders last night. I promised myself no more books until I read my summer reading list. Guess who came home with a new book? Grrrr.
ReplyDeleteugh... it's getting to be a problem! i bet, after this new stack arrives... i will have about 25 or so unread books.
ReplyDeleteBAD!
You and V are to blame for the current contents of my Amazon cart. Gah. I'm going to try my best to wait until payday to buy them...maybe...
ReplyDeletehow many more days until payday? i was paid today- that's also part of the reason i decided to induge... naughty naughty.
ReplyDeleteoh- and, the total has no jumped up to EIGHT books. one of the sellers emailed me saying they no longer had a book available, so i had to go back to B&N, find another seller, they recommened "atonement"... and i thought, oh what the hell, i may as well just get that one too.
5 more days...Good luck to me.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course you can't buy just one book by itself...it would be lonely, and we can't have that. Not to mention, more than one saves on shipping! Total win.
